STAND | 2024

STAND is a solid oak prop for displaying your favourite object - in our case the Calathea musaica Network plant.

A freestanding structure supports a fixed circular top. Four profiled legs CNC fingered jointed, hand finished and assembled in pairs, a detail that reveals the natural grain and contrasting tones of the oak.

The wood is sourced from the ‘urban forest’ released through routine arboriculture or storm fall in Greater Manchester. This designated ‘green waste’ includes prime native hardwoods, redirected with new purpose as objects for everyday use.

Made using the combination digital CNC machine and analogue tools, hand finished in a limited production run for Everyday at the Bluecoat Display Centre.
