STITCH STUDIO | 2018 M21

The new build studio occupies the full width rear garden of a 1960’s mid terrace and provides shared work space for a Senior Lecturer of Fashion and Professor of Urban Design.

Fibre cement panels cloak the studio in a horizontal overlap detail and are hand-printed in a pattern derived from sewing machine stitches.

Hand formed galvanised herringbone struts tie planed softwood rafters supporting a sedum roof and suspended led panels over individual work niches and a central cutting table - a simple space to accommodate the craft of pattern making, sewing and academic writing.
