Thoughts on Workshop Teaching in Architecture

Manual is a documentary record of teaching workshops carried out in Studio Unit 5 at Manchester School of Architecture. The book includes reflective texts, dialogues and descriptions of workshop teaching methods fully illustrated with photographs, models and drawings.

The content is thematically organised into separate folders forming a series of pamphlets within an overall binding. Conceived as a tactile object the book employs lithographic print and sewn binding techniques.

Designed in collaboration with graphic designer Sarah McHugh, Manual was awarded Winner of the Robert Horne Shout Awards Best Corporate Brochure 2010.
The publication has been supported by CEBE (Centre for Education in the Built Environment) Innovative Projects in Learning and Teaching.
