STITCH is a collaborative design+ build project in Chorlton M21.
The 15m2 footprint of the the single volume accommodates the overlapping work patterns of a Fashion Design lecturer and Professor of Urban Design.
Taking inspiration from stitch patterns the hand printed Danish cement panels cloak the studio in a protective shell whilst registering changing light and weather patterns.
The eco insulated, exposed timber frame and birch plywood lined interior adds a soft but useful depth to accommodate storage and display sewing equipment as beautiful artefacts.
A clerestorey window allows distant high level views to mature trees and to the setting sun with a secret door leading to a garden hide away.
